Kidnapped Priest in Nigeria Freed After Two Months in Captivity

Father Bobbo Paschal, who was abducted on 17 November 2025 during an attack by gunmen on St. Stephen Parish in the Archdiocese of Kaduna, has been released after spending two months in captivity, according to the Nigerian Metropolitan See. The information was reported by ACI Africa, the Africa-based sister service of EWTN News.

In a statement issued on behalf of Archbishop Matthew Man-Oso Ndagoso, the Chancellor of the Kaduna Archdiocese confirmed that Father Paschal was released on 17 January and expressed profound gratitude to all those who contributed to his release and offered prayers during his captivity.

Nigeria continues to face rising insecurity, with armed gangs carrying out attacks, kidnappings for ransom, and, in some cases, killings.
